The Book of the Law is Aleister Crowley's treatise which principally declares that everything should be done out of one's free will and love. Perhaps one of the most cryptic and inscrutable texts of the Thelema movement, The Book of the Law is perhaps one of the most misinterpreted works Crowley ever published. This book was, according to adherents of Thelema, dictated to Aleister Crowley by a mystical force known only as 'Aiwass'. At the time Crowley was in Cairo, when Aiwass suddenly made his presence known, unleashing this lengthy treatise which Crowley duly wrote down.
